The Brunswick County Association of REALTORS® Honors Clifton Cheek as 2016 Realtor of the Year

A service attitude and unparalleled professionalism is the philosophical backbone of Resort Brokerage Real Estate firm, and one their committed team puts into practice every day. It’s no wonder then that one member of their team, Clifton Cheek, was recently recognized as the Brunswick County Association of REALTORS® 2016 REALTOR® of the Year.

“It is a great honor to be recognized in this way,” says Cheek. “It quite honestly means the world to me. I’ve looked up to the winners in years past and admired them. I’ve done everything I could this year to assume and advance the Realtor image.”

Cheek, who says he was surprised by the acknowledgment, called it an honor because he’s not just recognized on a local level, but on a state and national level as well.

Chartered in 1959 by the National Association of REATLORS®, The Brunswick County Association of REALTORS® (BCAR) is the local association level serving its realtor, appraisers, and affiliate members in southeastern North Carolina and northeastern South Carolina. Annually, BCAR recognizes an individual Real Estate professional who is an exemplary industry leader who is making outstanding contributions to the industry and community. With more than fifteen years of experience in southeastern, North Carolina real estate, Cheek has served on numerous REALTOR®-related activities and committees, contributed to the Brunswick Vision Task Force, attended and graduated from the NC REALTORS Leadership Academy, sat on the Board of Directors for both the County Chamber of Commerce and the BCAR, and served as President of the North Carolina Regional MLS. Cheek was heavily involved in the successful reorganization of nine local MLS associations into a larger, cohesive entity. Cheek was also named BCAR’s 2017 President-Elect.

Success doesn’t happen by chance for Cheek. He prides himself on delivering an individualized, focused customer experience no matter if he’s helping clients buy or sell their first home or their fifth home. He’s also a firm believer in the benefit of continuing education for Realtors, especially staying up-to-date on local legislation which affects not only Real Estate, but the community as well.

“This is what helps me better serve my clients,” says Cheek. “So I can give them the best information to help them make informed decisions.”

Cheek’s passion for community goes back to his roots. “My parents were deeply involved in the community,” he says. “They had a desire to make the area better. To help the community grow.”

His commitment to the community helped lead to his participation on the Brunswick Vision Task Force and its mission to develop a strategic path forward, while preserving the county’s present. “The best way to grow is a smart way to grow,” Cheek says. “I think we can do that, commercially and culturally.”

When he’s not tirelessly supporting his clients or his county, Cheek spends what free time he has outdoors either surfing, boating, or golfing. It’s what keeps him here.

“I love the beach. When I was in school at Chapel Hill, I couldn’t wait to come home on the weekends and head straight to the beach,” says Cheek. “There truly is salt water in my veins.”
